"Fishy Stories" for Creative Writing After completing on-line research of ocean life, students wrote "fishy stories" and e-mailed them to students in the other two collaborating schools. Students receiving the stories had the opportunity to add more to the story and e-mail it back. The stories contained information about ocean life that the student had learned about while "surfing the net." The activity began as teachers used a KWL chart to get students thinking about what they wanted to learn. Students taking ownership of what they were to research and truly wanted to know, took their questions to the internet and along with several websites bookmarked by their teacher, they read and read and read! They accessed links and made lots of discoveries. Then it was time to write about it. ![]() |
