The Pesty Katydid
by Shameka L.

The katydid is a type of grasshopper. A certain male species has a loud shrill love call that sounds like " katydid katydid" when it mates during the summer. A katydid is a large green or brown insect with long antennae (feelers). It is a type of long-horned grasshopper.

Its name comes from the love call of the male of certain species in the Eastern United States. Katydids rub the bases of their wings to make sounds.
