The tadpoles that were placed in a nursery in our classroom developed at a much slower pace than the tadpoles in the outdoor fish pond. The tadpoles in the fish pond ate algae from around the sides of the concrete pond. The control group of tadpoles also ate algae. However, we added a small amount of crushed reptile food daily to ensure that they ate properly. This did not make a difference.
The average indoor temperature was 76 degrees F, and the average outdoor temperature was 83 degrees F.
Conclusion
The growth rate of a tadpole is much faster in warm temperatures than in cold temperatures.
