Darline
Darline Desil interned with the Department of Anthropology, aiding with the Haitian Adolescent Study (HAS). HAS is a field research study that conducts in-depth interviews with Haitian adolescents in Miami to determine the risk factors related to drug use and the transmission of HIV.  Darline worked with Dr. Louis Hens Marcelin (who created this study), Cecily Dennis, and Michel Celestin on this research project. HAS also explores the factors that hinder Haitian pubescent migrants in Miami from success in education and their social lives. Darline was responsible for reading passages relating to cultural anthropology to various culture groups and discussing the affects on their society. She also recorded and duplicated interviews for their future use and researched articles that related to the HAS initiative.
