Alanna

Alanna Pugliese interned with Dr. Lee M. Sanders, M.P.H., Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Mailman Center for Child Development. Alanna's primary research project focused on infants whose parents have low literacy rates and how that affects the patients' medication intake. Alanna and Alanna Smith went on rounds with Dr. Sanders and his research team, read various medical journals that were pertinent for their research projects and documented their findings in the appropriate databases. Alanna also interned with Dr. Ofelia A. Alvarez, Associate Professor of Clinical Pediatrics, Director of the Sickle Cell Center and Pediatrics Hematology/Oncology at the Ambulatory Care Center. She attended rounds and conferences with Dr. Alvarez and her staff, set up patient charts, and visited with chemotherapy and sickle cell patients.
