Higher Ed Expo: College and University Fair

As a high school student, there are so many details to think about when considering college. And when you are the first generation in your family to have the opportunity take this step, support is even more important when trying to figure it all out. The Museum’s Upward Bound Math & Science Program helps students do just that. On Saturday, 60 Upward Bound students, along with Museum staff, not only attended the Higher Ed Expo College and University Fair at the Miami Beach Convention Center, but they represented the largest group there.

Each student was able to meet with at least 7 colleges and universities, and they were even given the chance for one-on-one personal interviews with the school of their choice. Students also attended workshops on navigating the waters of financial aid and scholarships, as well as essay writing, which always fill those college applications. As an added bonus, one of our students even won an Android tablet for attending a school information session. These students have done their part, working hard to pursue their dreams. Upward Bound is just there to provide that extra support they need.
