Your Brain Needs Exercise Too

The Museum’s annual Brain Fair is the perfect opportunity to flex your mental muscles. This free event is designed to teach children and adults about how the brain and spinal cord function, and what that means for our everyday lives. Of course there was fun and learning for all. Children participated in hands-on activities like building a neuron, drawing a brain on a shower cap, and playing memory games. Adults received a bit more insight into their heads via University of Miami neuroscientists, who talked about topics such as ADHD, Sleep Disorders, Exercise and IQ. And throughout the event, everyone could find out if they were a “super taster,” discover ways to be maximize their learning potential, and even hold a real brain!

Support for this event was generously provided by the University of Miami and the Miami Neuroscience Center at the Larkin Community Center.
