Veronica's Interview Journal
Hi! I am a sudent at Miami Edison Senior High. My birthday is on September 11, 1980. I work at the Miami Museum of Science. I enjoy working with computers. I am a very nice, sweet, and kind person.
My Assignment
My assignment is to work with my friend Roslie. We interview people who come to the Museum and people on the Internet. On the Internet we use Homer, a program which lets us chat with people in Miami, the Caribbean, London, Africa, or just go to rooms like "friendly" where you talk to differnt people who live all around the United States. I mostly go to "friendly" and I also go to a room called "Miami". On the Internet you need a nickname, which can be just about any name and from there you type whatever you want to talk about. I go into the Museum galleries and ask people if they want to participate in a survey. If they say yes, I give them a sheet of paper which has a few questions like these:
- "Have you ever used a computer?"
- "Have you used the Internet before?"
- "What sites have you visited on the Internet?"
- "What would you like to see in computers in the future?"
When I have all the information that I need I share it with Roslie and she shares her information with me.
My expernice on Internet Relay Chat (IRC)
My first thought on IRC was that it was fun and easy to use. I was learning how other people live and what their cultures are like. The thing that I like the most is that you can meet people from other places in the United States and around the world. You see how other people use IRC for different purposes. The only complaint that I have on IRC is that people often kick you out of the chat room. That gets me mad because you could be having a coversation with someone when they just kick you out. They should not do that. That is not fair to me or to the person I am talking to. IRC is a fun and easy way of meeting other people.
