Unit Concept:
In this life science unit, children are introduced to shells and mollusks found at the seashore and in the ocean. Using an inquiry-based approach children discover the multiple attributes of shells and use these attributes to solve a problem.

Lessons:
1. Shells on the Beach: Children will sort shells using different attributes.

2. Shell Detectives: Children will classify shells using multiple attributes.

3. Shells Protect: Children will understand that shells provide protection for mollusks.

4. Shells for Hermit Crabs: Children will understand why a hermit crab uses an empty mollusk shell for its home.
