Unit Concept:
Through role play, observation and classification, children will actively learn all about birds.

Lessons:
1. Bird Basics: Children will learn that all birds have specific characteristics: feathers, two wings, two legs, and a beak.

2. Be a Bird: Children will learn how various types of beaks make it possible for a bird to eat certain kinds of food.

3. Noisy Nests: Children will understand how and why birds build nests to lay eggs and why birds sing songs to communicate.

4. Feed a Little Bird: Children will build their own birdfeeders and pretend to be Birdwatchers, observing how birds use their beaks and feet to eat.
