Line Tracker

Objective

The objective of this project was to assemble a line tracking device that tracks a line steadily and constantly. We also built this machine to compete against our other teams in our program and win.

Materials

All the materials came in a pre-assembled kit which we had to put together.

Tools

• diagonal cutter
• a long nose plier screwdrivers(M2-3 size) and (2-3 mm width)
• a penknife
• a small hammer
• 2- "AA" batteries

Procedure

• We made sure all materials were present.
• Then, we started assembling the line tracker with the instructions carefully.

To complete the line tracker, it took us three days. In building the line tracker, it was not that hard to understand the directions.We had some problems with the gear alinement, so we had to fix all the gears on one side, which was really hard. But, after that, our line tracker was working properly and ready for competition.

Discussion

In constructing the line tracker we had many challenges to oversee. Our first difficulty was the gear arrangement.The gear connecting to the wheel on one side was not tight enough causing the tracker not to track the line. So we tighten the gears a little more and it was worked but only a little bit. Then, we had the two wires connecting to the motor in the wrong positions, problem two. So we switched the two wires and tested the line tracker. Then, it was tracking properly.
