About Me:
Hello there! My name is Christie Llorente, welcome to my homepage. I'm in the eighth grade and currently attend at The Southwood Middle School. I were selected by Wendie James, project director, as a member of the Girls R.I.S.E. program. The RISE stands for Raising Interest in Science and Engineering. It belongs to the Miami Museum of Science. I feel that this is a very important program because it gives us the chance to explore and experiment the fields in science and engineering.
Where I live:
I was born in Miami, Florida and have lived here all my life. I love it in Miami, even if the weather is too hot. My family and I don't plan on moving.
My Family:
I have a wonderful family. There's always something to do at my house. I live with both of my parents and two younger sisters. (They keep me entertained when I'm bored.)
About R.I.S.E.:
The girl R.I.S.E. consists of about 16 -17 girls, a lead director, and 4 mentors. These mentors are also studying the field of engineering. Right now we are building electric cars and line trackers. On Saturday, July 19, 1997 we will be competing against other teams in the girls R.I.S.E. After we finish building our electric cars it will have to climb up a slope three meters long, at 20 degrees, while carrying 12 ounces of sand.
