Girls R.I.S.E.(Raising Interest in Science and Engineering) is exactly what it says. This program was started to help raise female interest in the areas of science and engineering. Most of the participants in Girls R.I.S.E. are from eleven to fourteen years old. During the summer, we meet everyday from nine to three. During the regular school year, we meet on Saturdays from ten to three. A lot of the projects we do are in teams of four and five.
From left to right: Kelsie Aguilera- Developmental Engineer, Zaily Pascual- Team Mentor, Sarai Ulloa- Facilities Engineer, Sharene Williams- Project Engineer, and Capree McIntosh- Test Engineer.
Our mission at Girls R.I.S.E. is to successfully assemble a line tracker which follows a black line, and to design and build a fast electric, battery powered car which we will compete with against other teams.
We acknowledge everbody at Girls RISE, especially our mentor, Zaily Pascual, and our volunteer, Danielle Smith. Also we would like to thank Lauren Smith and Santania Jean-Baptiste for helping us out. We would also like to thank our families. And most importantly, we would like to thank Wendie James, our program director, for helping us through the good and the bad.
