ABOUT THE BETASPHERE GIRLS:
Hello everyone! We are the Betasphere girls team. If anyone wonder, how we came up with the name. Our main goal in this Summer'97 is to be able to build a Line Tracker and an Electric Car. In brief, a line tracker is a robot that tracks black lines on a white foundation. For the electric car, we have to build and design an awesome car that also meets all the requirement. Our team members include:
Amanda Lopez, Project Engineer Carmen Rincon, Webpage Designer Laura Barton, Test Engineer

Miya Cain, Development Engineer Bonnie Rosenberg, Facilities Engineer Phuong Luu, our mentor

Please visit this link to know more about individual roles.
ABOUT GIRLS RISE:
Girls R.I.S.E. is a program which is organized by Wendie James (founder) and is funded by the Miami Museum of Science. The main goal of this program is to help young girls from 6 th to 9 th grade to rise more interest in science or engineering. In this program, we will learn to build linetrackers, electrical cars, our own webpages and learn more about our present technology.
ABOUT OUR ACTIVITIES:
Although our main goal is to complete the line tracker and the electric car, we still have fun. While we are not working on the electrcal car or the linetracker, we work on series and parrallel connections and build "elctrical fires". Once in a while, we visit different industrial engineer facilities to learn more about things they are working on. For example, we took a great field trips to the University of Miami. We visited it's Engineering building. We believe the most awesome is to watch the animated video. We also visited Cordis, a subsidiary of Johnson & Johnson company (A place that makes equipment for heart operation). Our special field trip was to Epcot Center in Orlando. That was a lot of fun. Well, that's pretty much it for what we do in Girls R.I.S.E.
