My name is Miya Cain and I am a student at Miami Country Day School. I am going to Sixth grade and I am 11 years old. I have a sister named Arielle and a parakeet named Julia. I like to do a lot of things such as bike riding, roller blading, playing, swimming, ....... Right now I am in a program called Girls RISE. Girls RISE is a program for girls who are interested in science and engineering.
Girls RISE stands for Girls Raising Interest in Science and Engineering. There are four teams, Alpha, Beta, Delta, and Psi. I am in Beta.There are 5 people on my team.We work together to build a car and a robot, a logo and a homepage, etc. We also go on field trips to meet female engineers. There are so many different types of engineers. So we like to look at them and see which ones we are interested in. It is a great experience for any female who likes science or is interested in engineering.
Other Great Engineering SitesIt is ver hot in Miami, Florida where I live. The temperature often reaches 98°. There are a lot of things to do, especially in the summer. You can go to the beach or to the park or to a pool. There are more things to do in New York City where I visit almost every summer and winter. You can go to zoos, mueseums, parks, restaurants, special programs, or just hang out. The weather there is good too. It's warm in the summer, it snows in the winter, and in the fall the leaves change colors. It is a very nice place.
