My name is Shantavia Williams and I am a student at Miami Jackson
Senior High. I am in the 9th grade.I'm the type of person that likes to
make peopl e laugh, but also the type of person that gets down to work when
it's necessary.I'm the oldest child of three kids. I like being the oldest,but
sometimes it can be frustrating being the oldest. Because I'm the oldest,I
have to take on a lot of responsibilities. Some of the responsibilities
I have to take on is cleaning up the house,watching my sister and brother
when my mother is gone,wash clothes,etc...Even though I have a lot of responsibilities,I
still like being the oldest no matter what.
Girls Rise is a program made especially for girls. The purpose of the program is to get girls involved in engineering. In the program the girls build a lot of different types of experiments. You build electrical appliances,bridges,alarms,clocks,etc... Girls Rise is a program that was started by Wendy James. Girls rise is a two year program. At the end of the program 24 of the 48 girls will receive a 400$ stipend. If your intrested in knowing about technology,and about what evolves around you,then Girls Rise is the program for you!

One of my favorite links is NASA because it gets you really intrested in learning more about science. My next favorite link is The International Association of Machinists Aerospace Workers because it gives you hands on experience with science.
I choose this site because it gives little kids a chance to explore science and understand what their looking at.
In rise you get a lot of hands on experience with technology. I have had a lot of experiences in Rise.While in "Rise" we have went to different types of field trips. Some of the trips we have went to are: To the University of Miami, Engineering Department, to a Lab called Cordis,and to Epcot at Disney World in Orlando. I've also been through the program a long time to know that's it's a very fun and educational program.By being in Girls Rise I have a lot more knowledge about working on the internet before I started the program. If your the type of person that likes to work on the computer and explore Different Types Of Engineers, then I think you should give this program a try.
