A major forest fire is one of the most terrifying and destructive of all natural disasters. Forest fires kill many plants and animals, burn down buildings, and can quickly kill people. Some of the worst forest fires in the world affect western North America, southern Europe, and Australia.
After a particularly dry season, small fires can break out. Those small fires can build into a wall of flame. Sheets of flame can race into a town, high above the treetops, and quickly wipe it out. Strong winds can drive these flames, and spread the fire fast and far.
