
Sea cucumbers are elongated, cylinder-shaped echinoderms. They have a skeletonreduced to form microscopic ossicles of many types in the connective tissue. At opposite sides of the sea cucumber appear the head and the anus. Five bands of tube feet run from the mouth to the anus of the sea cucumber. In some gruops of the sea cucumber these feet do not appear. The mouth of the sea cucumber is sorrounded by 10 to 30 tentacles. The length of a sea cucumber ranges from simply millimeters to 2 m (6.6 ft) Sea cucumbers usually have very dull colors. Such as browns and dark colors. The sea cucumbers feed on small organisms with their sticky tentacles. Another way they capture their prey is by shoveling mud into their mouths and extracting organic material from the prey. Some of the dried body walls of some tropical species are delecacies in the Orient.
