Professional Development Decisions Using Data (PD3) is a professional development needs-sensing tool that collects and an online database that reports the strategies that teachers and students are using in reading, science, and mathematics classrooms.

The mathematics and science sections of the PD3 tool incorporate the newly adopted Florida mathematics and science standards. The reading section is based on research from the National Reading Panel Report including the five essential components of reading instruction and is recommended for use by staff members with a strong background in reading, which may include: district reading specialists, university student teaching supervisors, and reading coaches.

PD3 is designed to:
• improve professional development decisions by looking at classroom practice
• increase the relevance of professional development
• enhance the role of school-based and district-level instructional teams
• provide a vehicle to track, over time, the impact of professional development on classroom practice
