Identifying Unknown Liquids
To a person who works in medicine, criminology,
or pool maintenance, unknown solutions are a daily fact of life.
All these fields encounter solutions which they must identify
by their pH.

In "Magic Liquids",
the liquids represent variety of pH's: water is neutral (pH 7);
vinegar is acidic (ph 4); and baking soda is basic (ph 8). As
the cabbage is added to each substance, it changes color based
on the pH: purple for neutral, red for acid, green for base |
