Distribution: Northern South America.
Size: Males 5 - 8 feet
(1.5 - 2.4 m) and females
4 - 4.5 feet (1.2 - 1.4 m)
Habitat and Diet: Lives principally along
shallower forest streams. Adults often travel on land between
burrows and water to forage for food. Their young eat insects,
shrimp, tadpoles and frogs whereas adults eat snakes and mammals
along with fish.
