Distribution: The island of Madagascar.
Size: 16 - 24 in.
(40 - 60 cm) long.
Diet and Habitat: These beautiful lizards
live in the trees of tropical rainforests where they feed upon
roaches, crickets, worms, grasshoppers, flies and other small
prey. Females are dull in color and only one half to three-fourths
the size of males. They also do not have the extreme color changes
experienced by the males. These lizards are very territorial
and males often react violently to each other. Panther chameleons
range in color from green to blue to red depending on the region
of Madagascar where they are found.
