Distribution: Yemen and Saudi Arabia.
Size: Males 18 - 24 in. (46 - 61 cm) and females
13 in. (33 cm) long.
Diet and Habitat: This arboreal creature lives
in the low humid coastal plains, mountain slopes, and high plateaus
of Yemen, as well as in the arid western coast of Saudi Arabia.
It is considered one of the hardiest and most aggressive chameleons.
Dramatic color changes help chameleons control body temperature,
communicate with other chameleons, and camouflage themselves
in their natural habitat. Their feet are great for grabbing and
holding branches and their eyes can turn 180 degrees and point
in two different directions at once. They catch insects and some,
like this one, eat a variety of vegetation.
