It’s a Beautiful Day at the Miami Museum of Science with
Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood: A Hands-On Exhibit

Miami, FL – Mister Rogers makes the Miami Museum of Science his neighborhood when the hands-on, life-sized recreation of the television show, Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood: A Hands-On Exhibit, makes its Miami stop June 22, 2002, through January 12, 2003.

For more than 30 years Fred Rogers has fostered creativity, appealed to imagination, and instilled curiosity about the world to encourage exploration of self and relationship to others. Now, his neighborhood is an interactive exhibit, which features a number of educational and creative activities to appeal to your imagination.

First, sing along to “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood,” as you step on the porch to enter this make-believe world. Then, what’s the first thing to do? Open the closet and try on sweaters and sneakers just like Mister Rogers.

After you’ve inspected the live goldfish with magnifying lenses, make your own songs just like real music producers with the help of Mister Rogers. Then, sort through Lady Elaine’s wild assortment of treasures, or dress up and hold court in King Friday XIII’s Castle.

When you’re in the mood for fun, join in at the activity table with constantly
changing art, crafts, and food activities taken from the Mister Rogers’ Plan and Play Book.

New to the Neighborhood? Drive the trolley by pulling the levers to check out what else is happening. Just don’t forget to ask yourself, “Have you hugged someone you love today?” Contemplate this question inside of Daniel Striped Tiger’s grandfather clock as you listen to “Peace and Quiet.”

Also, explore the neighborhood some more under the dome with “The Sky Above Mister Roger’s Neighborhood,” a planetarium show geared for small children, which covers celestial basics including sunsets, stars and the moon.

Also opening in June, is a brand-new exhibit, “Solve It Central,” that’s great for elementary school children. In Solve It Central, you can build amusing puzzles, test your skills with hands-on thinking games, and learn to solve real-life problems, all while having loads of fun. This colorful headquarters for your mind is full of challenges for everyone. Don’t lose your memory here because you’ll need itThe Museum, founded in 1949, is accredited by the American Association of Museums and is an affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution. The Museum was named recipient of the National Award for Museum Service in fall 2001 by the federal Institute of Museum and Library Services, only one of three Museums in the country selected for this prestigious distinction.
