Participating students are drawn from the museums UPWARD BOUND program. The Miami Museum of Science is the only science museum to be named an UPWARD BOUND Math and Science Center. Upward Bound is one of the US Department of Education's TRIO programs. The overall goal of the program is to help prepare low income, first-generation college bound students for postsecondary study in science, math, and technology related fields
