Split Kelp (Laminaria setchellii)


A distinctive dark-brown kelp with a profusely branched holdfast. Its rigid stem becomes flexible and widens out into a smooth broad blade that separates into a number of thin strips. The split kelp can reach a height of 1.5 meters with a blade of 15-20 cm wide, and 50 to 80 cm long.
