This document, which contains all the lesson plans available at this
site, is divided into the following sections:

Materials
These materials are for use with all lesson plans.
- A step-by-step guide to help the teacher introduce reading comprehension
strategies associated with Reciprocal Teaching to the students.
- An outline for the teacher to follow when introducing a new text and
applying reading comprehension strategies.
- This handout lists the four strategies to help students figure out
the meanings of words as you read.
- Hand out these cards to students in order to assign cooperative learning
roles. Each card assigns a student to one reading strategy.
- The teacher/leader for each group will follow these scripts.
Five separate scripts are available, for Group 1,
Group 2,Group 3,Group 4, and Group 5.
- Print a bookmark for each student which will act as a reminder of the
reading strategies used in Reciprocal Teaching.
- For use with the bookmark, above, this
worksheet will help each group take notes and record observations made
while reading.
Elementary School

Middle School
The following is a selection of lesson plans at the middle school lesson
in each of four subject areas. They are intended to model the principles
of reciprocal teaching.
- Mr. Crangle has plans for what will happen to the evil people today
at 4:00. Everything goes rather well, except for one minor setback...
- Read fascinating facts about the reptiles and amphibians of the tropics.
- The line between having a home and being homeless is greyed after the
author meets Ann in a bus terminal.
