Miami Science Museum Camp-Ins
Camp-Ins are a great way for your group to immerse themselves in a science experience never to be forgotten! In addition to an evening of science activities, Camp-Ins are overnight adventures where students can sleep amongst the exhibits. These fun-filled evenings will be offered at different times throughout the month. Exciting themes such as, CSI Museum, A Night at the Museum and Spy Kids, will be included in this year's lineup.
What to do?
You can choose from several themed Camp-Ins that include different activities such as:
Night at the Museum
Date: March 14, 2008; March 28, 2008; June 13, 2008; June 24, 2008
Have you ever wondered what happens in the Museum when everyone leaves and the sun sets? Discover a place where exhibits come to life and where reality and imagination intertwine.
Spy Kids
Date: April 11, 2008; April 26, 2008
Do you have what it takes to be a secret agent? If so enter a world of espionage in our newest Camp-In Spy Kids.
CSI Museum
Date: May 9, 2008; May 24, 2008
Are you ready to be a Crime Scene Investigator? Learn what it takes to work in a crime laboratory, solve cases, and use real science to put the bad guys away in this exciting "Whodunit" Camp-In.
Activities
The fun begins with an electrifying theater show - Shocking Science. Roam through The Dinosaurs of China exhibition and use your paleontology skills to dig up your own dino bone in our Dinosaur Discovery Area. Then, fall asleep after viewing millions of stars in our Planetarium show. Campers participate in scavenger hunts, activities, theater shows, Planetarium star shows, and observatory viewing (subject to weather). Activities will vary depending on which date you choose, please ask Camp-In registrar for schedule of evening events.
Who can attend?
Camp-Ins are open to any group with children in the 3rd grade and up. Camp-Ins are ideal for scouts, church groups, birthday parties and any other youth groups with a sense of adventure! Any size group is welcome (with 1 chaperone required for every 10 campers) but we must have a minimum, with all groups combined, of 60 campers to run the event. All dates will be subject to cancellation if the required total is not met.

Camp-In Times
Campers should check-in at the Museum at 6:30 p.m. on the evening of the camp-in, and should be pick-up at the Museum at 8:00 a.m. the next morning.
Meals
After registering at 6:30 p.m., pizza is served! Grab a bite before the evening begins. A late night snack and light breakfast will be served. (Group leaders must bring food for campers with special dietary needs.)
Cost for groups
$45 per camper: 1 chaperone per 10 campers is free, additional chaperones will be charged $25.
How do we sign up?
Call the Museum or fill out the online form to register your group. A 50% deposit is required to hold your reservation. Final payment can be made upon arrival at the Camp-In. A 25% cancellation fee will be charged to all groups who cancel less than two weeks before the event.
