The Miami Science Museum boasts a new "jewel" among its programmatic collection. @MiaSci, a monthly young professional mixer, has quickly become the premiere gathering for the twenty and thirtysomething mover and shaker crowd in South Florida. Billed as the "Happy Hour with Substance," the event combines a business mixer with a celebration of art and a twist of science.
This month's installment, scheduled for Wednesday, March 26th between 6:00 and 10:00 pm, will highlight some of the hottest fashion designers working in Miami. Designers were chosen under the direction of the Miami International University of Art and Design and include a varied set of fashion visionaries all working within specific genres including: organic and recycled sportswear and handbags, social conscious streetwear, innovative swimsuits, evening and club wear and formal ready-to-wear gowns. The list of designers that will show at this event include: Juju Costa, EverAfter by Renato, So-Me Designs, Kristina Ashley, Retro Actif and Jewelry by Cheryl Lynn among others. Miami Artist Alex Yanes will also be premiering his exclusive line of hand painted ladies shoes.
Although this event is a non-traditional concept for a science museum, @MiaSci will offer a bit of science to educate attendees that evening as well. The ambiance of the event will be embellished with projections that include facts and messages that speak to the science of textiles, fabrics and color. Attendees will not only be entertained with the fashion shows, open bar and appetizers served throughout the evening, but they can learn something as well. The best part is that all of this is offered for a donation of $10.00 per person. The evening benefits Miami Science Museum's educational programs.
@MiaSci is sponsored by www.socialmiami.com, New Times, www.miamimonthlymagazine.com, SpringBac Energy Drink and Catering by Lovables. For more information, please visit www.myspace.com/atmiasci or call 305-646-4209.
