The Dinosaurs of China

Map of China highlighting the province of Inner Mongolia

INNER MONGOLIA
Through the Sands of Time
The numerous fossil plants and animals of Inner Mongolia have greatly increased our knowledge of dinosaurs and their environments. The small plant-eating Psittacosaurus is one of the most common dinosaurs found in this region of China. The recent discovery that Psittacosaurus had feather-like bristles on its tail suggests that this type of body covering was more widespread among dinosaurs than previously thought.

Herds of Psittacosaurus roamed the semi-arid Asian landscape, frequently stopping to feed. They used their sharp beaks and powerful jaws to cut through tough vegetation.
