Science Communication Fellows Program

Patricia and Phillip Frost Museum of Science's Communication Fellows Program (SCFP) provides training to scientists and researchers to improve their science communication, especially in an informal science education setting. SCFP bridges the gap between scientists and researchers and the general public through face-to-face interaction opportunities.

The Portal to the Public Network, that is the basis for SCFP, originated at the Pacific Science Center in Seattle, Washington through sponsorship from the National Science Foundation and Institute of Museum and Library Services. It has since expanded throughout the nation, providing scientists and researchers with the platform and tools necessary to translate their research to diverse audiences.

SCFP provides an informative and fun way to learn how to better communicate your science research. Through 3 professional development sessions, led by experienced museum experts in informal science education, you will gain an understanding of how people learn and how to adapt your research to an informal education setting across a broad range of audiences. The Museum will aid you in developing a hands-on table top demo (you can keep it!) that showcases your research and provide a forum for you to practice your communication.
