Spring Camp 2012

March 12th - 16th, 2012
Camp Classes
Monday, March 12th: Just Add Water
Develop your green thumb as we analyze urban forests and backyard gardens. Learn
about the Museum’s hydroponics project and design your own plans to make Miami a
greener community.
Tuesday, March 13th: Insectigations
Join us as we explore the good, the bad, and the (sometimes) ugly critters that can
invade our green spaces. Search for insects during a nature walk and learn how insects
can influence our foods.
Wednesday, March 14th: Enviro-Chemistry
Discover the sources of pollution in our soils and help us use dirt and rocks to
create clean water. Investigate the sun’s impact on the environment, while you
create a trinket that tells you when to apply sunscreen.
Thursday, March 15th: Over the Rainbow
Do rainbows really need rain? And how exactly do you bend light? Come learn the
answers to these and other science secrets about light, including how to create
rainbows to enjoy at home.
Friday, March 16th: Spring Forward
Great ready for the first day of Spring! Learn what the word “Equinox” means, find out why
day and night are equal on this day, explore Spring and Equinox traditions from around the
world, and discover why plants and animals become “renewed” during this season.
