Made in Stithians
An amusing and inspiring portrait of Paul Spooner at work as he attempts to make a new machine in one day.
Playing at the Miami Science Museum under the title Cabaret Mechanical Theater: Building Marvelous Machines, Made in Stithians (a village in Cornawall, England) takes you through a day in the life of Paul Spooner, the singular craftsman that designed the marvelous automatons in the Cabaret Mechanical Theater exhibit.
"It is a simple but deft piece of carving and joinery, in its balance of skill and thought an example of perfect craftsmanship. Spooner has used just the right amount of technical proficiency" Rosemary Hill-Crafts
Galileo
2009 marks the 400th anniversary of the first use of the telescope to study the stars. Join actor and historian Robert Dawson as we explore and celebrate the Father of Modern Science, Galileo. This one-man performance will introduce Museum visitors to Galileo the man, his experiments and his ideas that changed the way we see the world.
