My name is Francios and I attend Miami
Edison Middle School. I am in the 8th grade. I am also on the 8th grade
class team called the "No Limit", the best team in our school.
I volunteer at the Miami Museum of Science and last summer I was a participant
in a program called M.U.S.T.
In the M.U.S.T program ,I learned alot about Marine Science, how to swim,
and also computers. Now I am a participant in the YouthA.L.I.V.E. program
at the museum. The YouthA.L.I.V.E. program has many different programs that
you can be involved in. I decided to participate in the Unity 1 program
because I wanted to learn how to make web pages and learn more about computers.
In Unity 1, I chose to write about Media Violence, Animation, and a brief
history about Arthur Atwater Kent.
The reason I chose to write about Animation is because I like comic books, drawings,
graphics, and animation connects all of these. When I watch cartoons, they
cause me to wonder about how they create the different characters and how
they make characters talk and walk. Animation is at the root of all of that.
Another topic I wrote about is Media Violence. Many people believe that
the violence that we see portrayed by young kids and children, is a result
of the youth copying what they see on television, movies, or other media.
Many of the things that they are exposed to are violent and that could cause
alot of problems. And the last topic I wrote about is on Arthur Atwater
Kent ,who started out manufacturing small electrical devices that soon branched
out into automotive components and eventually radios in 1902. I thought
it was very interesting to write a little piece on him, because he helped
to develop radios. These are reasons why I'm making three of these webpages
for people to get information on these topics, that I feel are important.
